The upstairs project 2016 (Page 10)

Day seven

So now we been working on the project for a week - 7 days. Today we had 3 tasks today complete;
  • Fix a problem with first window - the frame was being being pushed out of square (making it hard to shut),
  • Finish off the second window - the tiles above were not completed even know we worked to 8pm yesterday,
  • Start making a hole for the 3rd window,
So dad worked on the first two, whilst I started to create a hole for the next window. Unlike yesterday however, we are not installing another window today - that will be tomorrow (so we have more time to install it without rushing it). Each window really needs two days to complete - one day to make the opening, the other to install the window. At the end of the day, we are planning to install some temporary cover just encase it rains - you never know, its supposed to be our summer in England (which doesnt mean a lot at-the-moment). So I worked up-to lunch time, where I created the following hole (on the left);

Creating another hole

At this point dad had fixed the first window and had completed the second window. So at this point we had two windows complete, with a third with a hole. So now it was time to install the frame-work for the third window. At this point we didnt want to start installing the window because that take quite a long time, and more or less commits to weather the window. So instead we were going to cover the hole for tomorrow. The picture below shows the hole before it was covered. We should be able to install the third window tomorrow (having the whole day to do it).

Window frame-work installed in third position.

I have also uploaded a video showing the upstairs at the end of seven days worth of work. With a third window installed, we will have just one more to do. Hopefully this will be done either on Sunday or Monday. It depends how it goes with the window tomorrow and the weather.
