The upstairs project 2016 (Page 28)

Filling & sanding down

So after removing all the paint, it was time to start to preparing the surfaces for painting. In this stage I remove excess plaster and fill-in the gaps. This is a long & boring process but is vital to the end-look. This will take awhile because the upstairs is very large room, plus I need to blend new and old plaster together. I am pretty sure that it will need more filler after the first coat of paint - as normally this shows you what bits you have missed. However I will do what I can now, to make it easier for me later on. After all the filler had been added, it was time to sand-down the walls. In the pictures below you can see how much filler was added (its the white stuff on the walls);

This week hasn't gone participially well either;
  • Monday we had to get paint - and wasnt back until lunch,
  • Tuesday was simply too hot - the upstairs hit 36c! (too hot for physical work),
  • Wednesday things progressed slowly, it was still pretty hot and was my birthday,
  • Thursday I had a driving lesson in the afternoon,
So Friday was my first full day on the project this week - the hopes of painting during the weekend looked slim now. However by Saturday (23rd July) I was able to get the upstairs ready for painting for the Sunday. Hopefully I wont have too much filling afterwards. Its quite surprising how much a difference some paint usually makes!
