I'm getting ready to jump into the Final Fury plot.
I'm reading through Spike's guide on this plot that's available here.

I read that different ships will be needed for this plot.
The plot guide suggests an M6 and and M2 will be needed, but no suggestion for a ship to begin the plot.

Jenas' M4 tops out at 216 m/s so I need a ship with that kind of speed.
I own the X-permental Shuttle that has a top speed of 321 m/s, but I've read that a rear turret would be very helpful in completing the plot. The X-shuttle doesn't have one of these.

What did you guys fly for this plot?
I'll take suggestions for the all the ships you used, not just a beginning ship.
Just to let you know, I'm not able to buy ships from the Yaki or the Terran.

It's not what someone has done..it's about what they are about to do!

I have had great success doing the vast majority of Final Fury in both a Shrike and a Tiger (in vanilla and Modified). For the starting mission though, where you have to follow Jesan Nadina back to M148, I'd recommend something with a decent amount of bite. Even though it's a Khaak heavy plot your first major obstacle will be a sizeable Xenon fleet hitting Black Hole Sun out of 472 (Ironic eh? :p ), dependent on your combat rank. If you intend to fight the machines properly, go equipped Big grin

Best of luck, let us know how you get on Big grin

Okay....after a lot of in-game side-work, doctor's visits, physical therapy, etc., I'm finally ready and began the Final Fury Plot. Driving

Began the Plot in my X-shuttle. As I've mentioned, decent enough cargo space and speed!!!! It's obvious that speed it a large benefit in the first couple of parts of this Plot.

First, followed Jenas to Black Hole Sun. First couple of times there was one Q that came in-sector.
Third reload, there came 2 Q's. Luckily I had my brand new Shrike docked at the Equipment Dock. I sicced her on both Q's as I worked some missile magic and a bit of fair gunnery. The Shrike had 8 Solano M4's 'homed' and they came in handy. Lost only one Solano and the Shrike did have really low shields after the first Q. Thankfully she took out the second Q with no hits to her hull.

Staying with my X-shuttle for next part.

**Note** It takes 60 E-cells to get in and out of any of the Kha'ah sector in my X-shuttle. I had to reload and re-adjust my cargo as I only had 100 E-cells at first.
Also I moved a nice fleet of my own ships into M148. My TL Elephant and Mystic TS that carry my supplies, my new Shrike...I figure I might need her help again, my personal Tiger...I KNOW I'll need this later, plus a large E-cell freighter.

The X-shuttle was just about perfect for the 2nd part of this Plot. Dropped my Advanced Satellite, raced over and scanned the Station...jumped out. I was in a hurry so when I jumped I wound up in the Boron sector of Kingdom End. Still only 60 E-cells. I went to the Military Outpost there and reloaded with some E-cells to get back to M148.

I'm presently working on the 3rd part of the Plot.
Every-time I jump into the Sector, all I find are 4 HEPT in a crate, along with the recorder device and 2 crates with small amounts of E-cells.
Four times I jumped in, HEPT's.
Fifth time I waited, headed for the N Gate to take a bit more time before I jumped...HEPT's
Next time I docked at the Shipyard, trying to 'change-it-up' some...HEPT's
I changed ships and took my Tiger next time....HEPT's (**it takes 240 E-cells to get in-sctor in my M7)
Finally, I took the X-shuttle through the N Gate into the Unknown Sector...jumped from there....HEPT's.
Next I jumped right after un-docking and stayed in sector after picking up the 'device' and got killed.
Re-loaded game and same thing...HEPT's.

I've presently stopped the to give my mind (and back) a little rest.

Anyone have an idea that might change the weapon crate's contents next time I start the mission?

No, but if you're doing reload abuse I'd suggest you write an AutoHotkey script to automate as much as possible. i.e. reloading, jumping, search net etc etc.

cj, you might want to reload and do the second mission again. There is a chance of you finding 2 PALCs (Phased Array Laser Cannons), an experimental Split weapon compatible with Tiger and Panther class ships, in the debris field. I've had to reload a few times in the past to get them, but they are well worth the effort.

Yeah Kirlack. I was looking for the PALC crate in that Sector.
After about 10 re-loads all I kept finding was the HEPT's.

I do have a "save" from the the first mission just before going through the Gate into Black Hole Sun with Jenas.
I can always go back and re-start the whole Plot again.
But I think I will go ahead and finish the Plot this first time, and then do a re-do to see if the PALC shows up.

I suppose it's possible that the contents of that crate are decided before you even enter the sector, but in my experience of TC that's just not how it works. However with the PALCs being experimental weapons Ego might have made them uber hard to get. It's been a fair while since I last did Final Fury from the start, but I seem to recall on one play through I had to scrap the plot completely because after ~50 reloads I still didn't get them. When I started the plot from the start though, they were there the first time I reached the sector.

***might contain some Spoiler information***

Just going to play out this plot and see when I finish it if I want to re-do it or not.
Just recounting how the Plot plays out for me...

I jumped to the Xenon Sector and just grabbed the data storage device and jumped out...left the other crates.
After the 'retrieval mission' (in my X-shuttle 60 E-cells in and 60 out to anywhere) I returned to M148.
End of Part 2 of the Plot.

While waiting to the next mission cue, I move some of my ships around ahead of the Plot's requirements.
I have my personal Tiger (M7), my new Shrike (M7), and one of my old friends, a Boreas (M2) in M148.
I have a Dragon (M6) with me also and docked the X-shuttle in my re-supply Split TL...which also stays in M148.
All my ships are stocked up and I sent the 2 freighters out of the Sector.

The next part of the Plot is in the Unknown Sector north of M148...the asteroid scan and then the TL escort.
I decide to use my Tiger for this one. All turrets set for "attack enemies". The ship is equipped with ISR up front for me to fire, FAA right and left, PRG up, down, and aft (my up and down normally mount CIG but I changed them out for this Plot).

Jumped in and started looking around. The asteroids I need to find are not "highlighted". I attempt to use the coordinates given in Spike's guide, available on this site, but I had just taken my prescription med's and, well...I had to do some regular flying to find the 3 of them. I did OK but found them in this order; the 'lower one' and then the 'eastern one and finally the 'north one'.
I've been dropping advanced navigation satellites along the way...this turned out to be helpful later on.
This finished part "A" of this part.
("Save" )

I get the 'escort' message right away and an Orca enters from the East Gate.
I jump to the Gate expecting immediate troubles.
An Ocra is a nice looking ship, from the outside...not so nice from the inside...BOOM!
Re-start.

A Teladi Albatross enters after the re-start.
I wait a little bit...then jump to the Gate and begin the escort duties.

I expected a bit more resistance after reading the guides I could find and the posts of others that have completed this Plot. I read that a new TL's will spawn if the previous one gets destroyed...hmm.
Most of what I had to defend against were some Xenon Scouts and a few Fighters. About half of the Scouts are taken out by 'other' ships in-sector at the time. Some took the trouble of taking out the advanced satellites I dropped earlier..so I knew where they would be coming from.
No Clusters...no Corvettes for me.
Hurricane missiles take care of most of the 'work'.
The Albatross (no re-spawns) survives---3 mines dropped---mission complete.

Returned to M148.

***Might contain some Spoiler information***

Beginning Part 4---
(first) Convoy escort in the Unknown Sector above M148...then take out the Kha'ah Station.

I decide to fly a Dragon (M6) for this one and jump to the East Gate.
I find 3 Teladi 'convoy' ships; an Osprey, a Pelican, and a Vulture Miner. (Convoy make-up is totally random)
I pick the Osprey and hit the "follow" command...not the best choice. I found out in this, and later 'convoy' mission in the Plot...if I'm going to "follow" one of the 'convoy' ships...pick the slowest ship in the fleet. That one flies straight while the other ships, with better speed flip, slip, and tack back and forth.
Also any military ships in the 'convoy' could take off and attack any enemy that gets close.

After "follow"ing for a little bit, I decide it's just better to match the speed and direction of the slowest 'convoy' ship.
By now all the advanced navigation satellites I dropped earlier are gone. I don't have any on the Dragon, but no big deal.

Again only Scouts and very few Fighters during the first half of my (our) transit to the South Gate. Many of these tried to take on other in-sector ships.
Most of these are taken out before they come close to my 'convoy' charges.

During the "lower" half of the transit, some Clusters show up...popping in pretty close to the 'convoy'.
Cuckoo I don't have any of my favorite "cluster-duster" missiles on-board!!! Completely forgot about Clusters and no Hornets in the cargo hold Bash the wall

Oh well...I have 45 Fire-Storms torpedoes on board and while not the best, because of how badly it turns, they will work in a pinch.
**Tip** When your target is as close as these Clusters (usually popped in 7 to 10 km distance), turn the ship in the direction of the enemy Cluster before firing the Fire-Storm! Cuts down on the traveling/turning time so the Cluster can't get in too close to the 'convoy' ships.

Totally of 4 Clusters and about 2 dozen (that came close to 'convoy' ) Scouts and Fighters taken out.
Only one Cluster got close enough to 'break-up' and attack...after Fire-Storm is fired.
This is only time any of my ship-guns fire during our journey South.

All three ships jumped through the South Gate---Part A complete.
(*Save*)

Part B--

Right away message comes in to follow a Scout back to it's base.
There are 3 other Scouts with this "one" I have to follow...I take them out with Hurricanes.

When the Station comes into view, I dusted the remaining Scout with another Hurricane.
I get the message to take out the Station.

A Teladi Condor (with launched escorts), and 10 Teladi M8 bombers show up from the South Gate (Station is in the center of the Sector) to help me take out the Station. But they are slow while I can travel at 172 m/s so I dart off towards the Station.

I have 41 Fire-Storms remaining on-board. I slow my ship and fire off a total of 34 (timed at intervals) at the Station.
Previous Xenon Station attacks usually take about 20 Fire-Storms. This Kha'ah Station has a tougher skin.
I'm not sure how many actually hit the Station, but when it's finally gone there are 4 missiles still flying...those that missed the Station on their first pass.

Station destroyed---mission complete.
So far not as "hazardous" as I expected..but there's still plenty more to do!
I returned to M148 and am awaiting my next set of orders Deal

It's not what someone has done..it's about what they are about to do!

I completed the Final Fury Plot Exclaim

I think the worst 'part' for me was the next-to-last bit when you're fighting the Kha'ah in M148.
I'm really late into my game (presently 91 game days) and the sector was really built up and crowded. And with the size of the attacking fleet this caused quit a bit of lag and hesitation...at least until I kicked some massive butt Guns
Maybe it wouldn't have been so crowded if I under-took this Plot earlier in my game.

The Griffon is a really nice M7 and I sent her along with my Boreas in an anti-fighter escort role.
I might take her along to escort me when I take my Shrike out for some "doings" Term

Does that one Military Outpost every turn 'friendly'?
Maybe finishing other Plots or something?

Well anyway, I'm off to return to the HUB Plot again for a little while.

Congrats! Beer

Learn to love the Griffon mate, she's a fan-bloody-tastic ship. I use mine almost exclusively in my main game. She can take on just about any other ship in the game and come out ahead. Since I went modified I can even use her for boarding ops!

Does that one Military Outpost every turn friendly?

Nope, sorry mate. That one's off limits unless you can find a hacker somewhere near by. I've never had any luck doing so.

Do I have to reload the Black Hole Sun mission if the mission guidance is stuck on the Exterminator after the last Xenon are destroyed?

Have you made sure all the Xenon are dead? has some can be off-map and hiding.

If there were any Xenon, the mission guide would show me them at the center of a bright orange gizmo. The gizmo is instead focused on Exterminator. I tried talking to him, but nothing interesting happens. He flies around the sector, but not to M148.

A question that has puzzled me for my whole 24 years of life. If a word is in the dictonary is mispelled how do we know?

I replayed the mission and it worked right. Weird how they finally got some police in Black Hole Sun. Last time I had to defend that place by myself.
