Hey all,
First time posting but I have looked all around for this answer. I placed two wheat factories connected by complex and they are producing wheat. I have a trader set up to purchase solar energy for them and it is working. I only have this issue.....where it should say Resource selling price limit for the Delexian Wheat...it says Resource buying price limit. Is this a bug or is something messed up?

Picture

Thank you all for the assistance in this little issue.

You're right to look in station parameters, it SHOULD be there; but it looks like it is treating the Wheat as a resource, which is very strange. The only reason why I can imagine it would do that would be if you had a Rimes Fact attached to it, but you don't.... Do you have the Bonus Pack installed? Because if you do (although this technique may work without it, so try it anyway) is to go into the Station's Command Console > Pick any slot > Find and select the command 'Administration (Commercial Agent)' > Complex settings > Then it should tell you what the products, intermediate products and resources are of that complex, which you can switch them around from there. That's the only fix I can think of, but you do need to install the bonus pack if you don't have it already; if you don't I would highly suggest you do install it, as it adds very useful equipment without making your game modified (so you can still get achievements and all that).

I tried to see your picture at the above ref. but it is too small for me to read the info. Can you repost a bigger picture?

First, thanks for trying to help me. I do have the bonus pack installed and I tried to change it like you said RandomTank but this did not fix the issue, I thought but after I backed out and thought to just check it now does in fact say Selling product price. So this did fix it. Thank you!!

One other question, I want to build Specture missles but I need to supply terran mre and we all know that those are in short supply....where do I or how do I buy the food paste factory to manufacture my own terran mre? I have checked the terran spacedocks but they never have one even listed.

You'll have to finish a few plots before you can buy or build Terran stations I'm afraid. And even then I'm not 100% sure the spectre fabs become available Cry

More Terran plots? I have already done the terran defender plot and am now just about done with final fury. Wow...I really like all the quest lines lol. Thanks...

If you're in need of tips, I'd suggest visiting the Goners, and working up your Boron rep in core sectors Wink

There's loads of plots in this game! It's great! I'm halfway through a certain lengthy plot, then I still have a few to do after that! @redheart Another tip is to keep travelling to new sectors, as new 'Treasures' will opened up for you!

Also, what combat ship are you using for Final Fury? Because I'll give you a warning, the final mission is a toughie and can be pretty impossible in an M6! (well MOST M6's anyway...)

Anyway, back to stations; where exactly have you put your Wheat Complex? Because buying energy for 20cr a pop isn't very good for the Bank account! Just little tip: Teladianium Foundries seem to go down very well in a lot of places, especially in Argon, Teladi and Paranid Sectors, so maybe purchasing one of those will be a good investment?

I am currently using the Vidar Corvette that you get from the Terran Plot. I am thinking about getting replacing it though as I dont see this being a very good ship since it is given to you but I have not looked at the others yet as it has done me good.

Thanks for the tips, I will be sure to use them.

You got that Vidar fully equipped? It's a fantastic ship, it can see you through an awful lot, but I'd strongly suggest looking into getting yourself a M7. Some of the best choices for an all rounder M7 is the Shrike, Panther or Deimos, as they can all mount decent anti capital weaponry, decent anti fighter weapons and can also carry fighters. Some of the other M7s are also very good, but are more geared towards a certain task: the Tiger and Thresher are more like anti-capital Destroyers, with loads of IBL and PPC, but also can take quite a few FAAs, but can't take any fighters; the Cerberus is very good against fightets, as it carries a large amount of FAA, and a few fighters, but has almost no anti-capital weaponry; the Yokohama suffers from no real anti-cap weaponry, not many SCCs, no hanger and no purpose, it's very good at killing M6s, but so is your Vidar, so I wouldn't get a Yokohama. That's all the M7s you can buy, the rest you have to capture or are not availible in vanilla, so I wouldn't recommend any of them. You can then use your Vidar to escort any M7 you do get! Happy to help!

The Vidar is pretty solid, especially if you can source a decent supply of Matter/Anit-Matter ammo and fit 10 M/AM Launchers up front. Then you can tear M2s apart without breaking too much of a sweat. My primary gripes with it are the weapon options in the turrets (EMPCs never seemed very good as missile defence), and the lack of mosquitoes for MDM (Missile Defence Mosquito). As an alternative that you can buy, the Split Heavy Dragon is pretty kick-ass, but if you're willing to board and steal ships then the Heavy Centaur Prototype (Argon) and the Hyperion Vanguard (Paranid) are both excellent ships. They can't be bought though, so a 'mercenary discount' is your only option Wink

When it comes to M7s I'm a Shrike man. There's nothing I can't kill with a Shrike + fighter wing + missiles Big grin But there's been so much debate since TC's release on which M7 is best that I'd have to say they're all pretty evenly matched. The trick is finding the one that best suits your play style Smile

Sweet, thank you Rtank and Kirlack for teaching me this. I do have one question about mines. When you set down a mine on an asteroid is there anyway to remove it and reset it down on a better quality percent one? Or do I just take the loss? I set an ore mine down on a silicon asteroid by mistake. Should have knew they would have a separate mine for that type. Ok I found my answer to that, I need to get a tractor beam and stow it on the Vidar and use that.

And about capping ships, what do you find the best guide or method for capping m7 ships?

:) Thanks again!!

Oops :p Sadly, there's nothing you can do. Once a mine goes on an asteroid that asteroid is lost forever (the mine replaces it). Mines of the wrong type will generate the opposing mineral, but only very, very slowly. And it's NEVER worth your time or money building M sized mines. Always go for L size Smile

Firstly you'd really want an M7M (missile frigate). The Argon Minotaur, Boron Kraken, Teladi Gannet, Split Cobra or Paranid Ares are the ones to look out for. Unlike normal frigates (M7s) these ships use missiles as their primary weapon, none of them can carry fighters, and they can carry up to 20 marines, and the boarding pods to fire at targets. Boarding pods are only available at military outposts and a few pirate bases, so you're best to stockpile them as early as possible if you intend to make a career out of piracy Big grin

You can actually steal an M7M quite easily. The last 2-3 chapter of my 'Way of the Gun' story cover this. It's linked in my sig if you're interested. Other than that, you'll need ~50 million credits for the ship, and then at least twice that for a support complex to feed it missiles :p

Boarding is kind of an art form, it takes a while to master, but once you crack it you'll pwn the universe :p There are numerous guides on the Egosoft forums, and I think Roguey wrote one that's in the guides section of this site Smile

Not much I can add to that... Big Grin

Apart from this: If you do set up a Boarding Crew on an M7M, do not, repeat DO NOT BOARD XENON ships unless you have 21 fully trained marines and a lot of patience! Xenon ships are much more difficult than any other ship of that class to board and capture, and they aren't really worth the effort as they are a bit under-average. If you see a Xenon Q around, kill it with your missiles or better yet, leave it alone; if you try to board it with inexperienced Marines be prepared to lose your entire boarding crew. It's pretty unfair, but then again, you don't need to board them! Laugh

Thank you for all your help. I know that I have a ton of stuff to learn and I will just in time. I have started reading your DID "Way of the Gun" and I am enjoying the writing style you have. Really detailed and I enjoy it. Im into chapter two, the only thing is...when I read it, it makes me want to jump into game so I keep jumping in and out lol.

Now about piracy, since starting the first plot with Terran Defender, I just dont know if I can see my character turning into a pirate. However, should the Terran be at war with someone then there would be the need for privateers. That would be an opening for me to "obtain" some much needed crafts. Any ideas? and no the xenons are not on my caping list at all.

There's no actual war in TC, but if you're roleplaying your Terran you'll always be at odds with the Paranid Big grin Terrans are described as being quite xenophobic, so a 'civil but frosty' approach to everyone else would fit.

The downside is that certain equipment can only be acquired from certain races. The Paranid, for example, are the only race that produce tractor beams, hurricane missiles and hornet missile factories. You can get Hornets from other races, but you won't be able to produce your own without the 'nids on side. And the Hurricane is awesome for chasing down M5s Big grin
