Hope all goes well for you Kiki!

Things not so good on the ED front for me.... 390 LY schlep to Maia to buy a box of Meta Alloys (they'll only flog you one) then 390 back to Deciat only to get slotted on the doorstep by some scumbag in a big nasty that I couldn't jump out of. Don't know what weapons he was using, some big green blob thing that totalled me pdq.

Oh well... back to the drawing board. ;o)

Hi Skydog1 I've never had to make more than 1 trip to Maia, have you waited for the board to reset? Are you still at Deciat?

Well it was great to catch up with JayVee and Skydog1 online....a new experience for me and I bumbled around a lot before things started to work (maybe it was the other guys that knew what they were doing ) unfortunately we did not have enough string to reach aus (we both had tin cans but) so SD1 and I had to use text and I am a slow typer.

I never use the docking computer but I wanted to try out the new one...ssooo....it had its good pts and bad pts....good is the fact you can have a rest instead of flying in and out of stations (which I do not mind anyway)...bad pts is I tended to take many more sips out of the whiskey glass !!

Might try out the new supercruise module to see how that works.

drank most of the lavian brandy but kept enough for that Didi lady who wanted 50...think she has a drinking problem !

noted there was no community goals active atm....is there a problem ?

Should my orange letters in cockpit be crystal clear? The letters are just a bit blobby, and difficult to read while killing asteroids. lol (I crack me up sometimes...)

Some guy in a Youtube tells you how to fine tune your headset for better graphics but I do not think it made a difference.

Could be because I am also farsighted. (Ya think KP???)

Did well yesterday: 11 LoTempDia and 4 Void Opals.
Then someone flew in and wanted to know what was in my cargo hold...and tried to attach to my cargo scoop or something, so I roared off - then my computer froze up and after rebooting they were gone. I was lucky.

Anyone know what that was?

Anyway got to get off here...heading to surgery.

KP it sounds like limpit cargo hatch breakers that open your cargo hatch and shit drops out for them to pick up.

Do not know for sure but turning off cargo hatch may work to stop them....also

apparently point defence could work also.

OR...you could always freeze your computer again lol

yep...tried it enough to decide docking computer will prob only be used in special cases such as grinding in a big ship that has module space....will give plenty of spare time to do other stuff.

Well that's my first sojourn into the realm of mining a ringed planet. I certainly didn't break any records but neither did I come back completely empty handed despite it costing more in ship repairs than I earned on the stock exchange. However, I did learn a great deal and the next outing should be a lot simpler now that I've grappled with the basics. Smile

Lot of little things to know that can shorten your search for riches.

A Python I was advised and good advice it was! I have banged into asteroids, shoved them around with my nose and never get ANY Damage. My Asp Explorer I almost blew up with one whack.

So, that is my first piece of advice: Get a good hull. Next, is outfitting. [You pros check me over to make sure this is good advice...I got your humility right here if I made an error.]

One abrasion blaster
One or two seismic chargers
One Collector limpet controller
One Prospector limpet controller
Detailed Surface Scanner
Pulse scanner
Refinery
Cargo Holds
LIMPETS!! Load up to 80% of what you can hold because you will burn up a lot prospecting. You can always dump some if you need cargo space...but usually by the time I hit a core mining asteroid I have shot about 10 prospecting limpets

Serious cash is in core mining.

Once equipped you need to find icy rings with low temp diamonds, void opals, and a list of which minerals are selling high...like https://inara.cz/galaxy-commodities/ You will see under MINERALS that three of them are selling for over 1,000,000 credits PER crate! Besides two mention above: Benitoite for some reason is going nuts.5 others are above 500K right now. So, you need to find icy rings around gas planets usually. Then watch some good YouTube videos on core mining, how to place charges, etc.

It is a blast!

Thanks, Fellow Commanders for the kind words...recovery is going very fast so I expect to be back in space this weekend if not sooner (which would be if the spouse would go grocery shopping I could sneak down there for an hour or two ;-).

So what is a DW2, JayVee? Am I missing out of something?

I am ported at Davis in Diaguandri right now.

I need advice on two things: Which guns are most effective in combat? I do not get the diff between lasers, pulses, rays etc. So, if you had the bucks to get the deadliest weapons for your front guns - what would they be. And always gimballed, right?

#2 - Anyone know a good video on following topic: Engineering, to get beyond ordinary power out of things, i.e., amping up everything beyond what you can purchase at Outfitting?
