Is there an advantage going through STEAM? I can get into ED either thru Oculus site or Steam and have been using Oculus.

OK, will I still see you in Solo Play at Ross or only if I do Open play. So tired of working my butt off for a few containers of Alex or Grand or LTD and getting blown away on way to high-paying station.
Working towards the PYTHON! I have 31M so far!
I know it is a better mining ship than Asp Exp., but Would the Python also be as good of a fighter as the Cobra Mark III?

Got Blasted with a boat load of void opals again, and could not find escape vector before he blew me out of the sky...an NPC in Solo Play!
BUT made two more trips with Low Temp Diamonds, Alex and Brom and got interdicted twice and escaped both times! Thanks for that tip....it saved my butt. I also released chaff, but not sure if that helps.
Almost have enough for Python, so am coming your way if you have Pythons at Ross.

In any case, while you might have enough for the ship itself, you still need to buy all the crap that goes on a mining ship. I think I spent about 120m on mine. Not trying to dampen your enthusiasm, but the 7A reactor alone is 51m. Now, there are cheaper options, I just don't like having to turn things off to get other things to work. Im going to post my Build soon on the build page under Python. Look for SLOOPY V.

I could cash out my Asp Explorer....will I ever need it again if I have the Python?

3) Anyone know how long the Frontier server will be down. It is 10:45AM CST and it is still down. The very day I had time to go 120LY to Ray Gateway!

I took Kiki Pitts VII out for a ride or two yesterday...the new Python. I also made SkyDog1 a friend on social, and am willing to list anyone else who asks...I tried "jlippo" but it was not found, nor Sloopy V.
I took a quick trip to Nav Beacon and set up to test weapons. And sure enough, my power reactor needs ramping up as I have to downgrade a lot of stuff to 5 for my Py to run and shoot.
Any leads on a nearby ice belt with some high paying minerals? I will take your advice and build up some cash for the new reactor. I only have saved back about 5M for insurance. I cashed out my Asp Explorer and sold some stuff in storage and had 75M, and with the nice discount here at Ray Gateway, I am fitted out not too bad for mining and for combat.
Today, I am going to deck Kiki Pitts VII out like gorgeous!
Then go mining.

My computer has frozen up several times since I came back from Florida and had to reboot before my ship traveled into an asteroid! So, if Steam helps regulate live stream....that would be helpful. My problem here is I am a long way from wireless router and our download speed varies from 30 then up to 90 where it should be.

Steam doesn't do anything to the game, as is the case with most games. E:D does not use Steamworks for online functionality.

KP you probably know by now but the standard escape from interdictions if you lose the mini game or submit is....
have a next system to jump to viz. high wake not low wake
pips to shields
keep boosting until you can high wake out
best thrusters you can afford for more speed
that's my little bit of info

viz. is "namely" or "as follows" ..in this case it means use high wake
high wake is jump to another system...hard for them to follow
low wake is jump to supercruise in same system...they can catch up again
there is a menu option for "select next system in route" so having a button for this is a good idea, also having your next system selected after first entering a new system is a good idea if interdiction is expected.
there are two options for interdictions....play the mini game and try to win by keeping in the middle of the escape circle, or dropping out of supercruise and submitting( this gives a shorter fsd recharge time)...some say to turn back and boost past the other ship which gives you a bit more time to charge fsd back up but I have not tried this.
Basically just keep boosting until your fsd is charged and ship is pointing to new system then hit the jump button.
not sure about the chaff as I do not use it but depends if enemy is using gimbals or turrets, if they are then I believe it would help...could be wrong but.

KP what are you using for controls, keyboard & mouse, hotas or gamepad. I found it very difficult to evade interdiction with KB & M, or impossible, much easier with hotas. If you submit then as Bazr says best to fly towards and past them. I've never prevented interdiction by a human player, they are always too good for me, and there's usually been more than one.

HOTAS all the way! I cannot imagine doing this game with keyboard alone. I DO have a few hot keys on my keyboard and I do use mouse for bit of pointing and clicking, i.e. on Solar map, quicker to highlight a planet and get info.
I am sitting at Davis now, doing some mining over at 3. Two Interdictions but got out of both by taking advice following the escape vector. Now that I have a Python it helps. I am playing solo to build up enough cash to totally load up power, shields, weaponry, then will go OPEN with enough insurance for TWO losses. That is my goal.
What is ideal Hardpoint weaponry for the Python.

I am so in love with this ED. It is more than any game...it isn't even a game it is both a school and a way of life almost.

If anyone knows anyone there, I have a proposal for them, using ED to reach at-risk kids with some modifications. I have sent two emails to them, but no responses for a month.
Anywaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, back to core mining for today!

Yeah, I was "wanted" in the beginning and have no idea how I got that way but it was at a Nav Beacon so I prolly shot an innocent. Took me forever - on the run - trying to find a station that would wipe my record clean!
It is great in ED to always get another shot no matter what.
My grandfather flew bomber missions over Germany in WWII and they got no do-overs. Amazing courage. Not unusual to have only 50% of planes to survive the trip and he made 18 missions...which was called a "Charmed Life" as very very few made it that far. He was eaten up with ulcers, poor guy, for about 10 years afterwards.
I prefer ED.lol no kidding!!
