lol I have been in the pen twice...once was a blessing as I was stuck somewhere and could not get out of a system so got reborn into detention center. The other time was in the beginning....I tried to sneak into a station without permission and blooey!
What is that? I was in a station and watched three ships trying to leave get blown to hell, and one was a beluga! What could have caused that?
Made about 30M today, core mining alex, grand and stumbled upon a rock of void opals just as I was going to call it a day.
Evening everyone...

Help! Going nuts with the keybinds for mouse and keyboard for FSS/DSS modes.
I can get them running but can't make them do anything except target rings and shoot!

Are you not using a HOTAS, SD1??? You must sacrifice something and get it, because I cannot imagine trying to do what I do with just a mouse and keyboard! Wow. My admiration if that is what you have been doing.
A good find is ebay, a used one where it is 15% of a new one. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.XHOTAS.TRS0&_nkw=HOTAS&_sacat=0
A QUESTION: In my fire panel, I cannot get anything other than first column to work. If I move cursor to second one, nothing works. It seems you need the lines above and below the A or B or whatever...and I cannot make that "Stick." Know what I mean? I have to keep changing out everything in A column.
Help.
Happy Skies!

KP Have you assigned next fire group to a key in controls?

I go into that column (2nd one) and set up, say, my mining functions - (#1) Surface charges, (#2) abrasion blaster, (#3) collector limpets, etc. (1st column is for lasers, cannons, etc.)
So, I get to mining area, click over to second column, But lasers and cannons fire as if I had never gone to second column. So, I have to redo first column for mining for it to work. Pain in the butt really...like what good is it to have fire groupS? There is only one group with different things with No. 1 or No. 2 for Hotas.
When done mining, I have to go back and redo weaponry with No. 1 and No. 2 or they will not work.
I notice this: At top of the column A B C that ONLY my A has a line beneath it and above it. If I move over a column, the lighting changes but the lines always stay above and below A Column heading.
Make sense?

What's a 'HOTAS?' ... Mouse and keyboard for me!
Years ago I had a handheld joystick (original 'Elite' 1984 style!) which was the bees bol... erm.. 'knees' It was like half an egg with a little stick on top and one fire button. I think it was VGA or some such nonsense. I've got a joystick but I can't get on with it at all. I use a Logitech marble mouse. Old tech but then I'm an old and traditional geezer. We had the trackball way back in the early 60's - 70's on the targetting plotting tables in the Warfare room of our RN War canoes. The radar plotters were forever breaking the bloody things but they were easy to fix me being the leckie techie and teleprinter mech (all night in my pit at sea!).
I'm going to build myself a kickass gaming machine like the Johnny Cash song ... I'll do it 'One piece at a time' The Biscuit tin and two tin cans with a piece of string I use at the moment works right on the edge (and occasionally falls off it) I have to change the needle before every game!

BTW Kiki if I have to sacrifice something to get a 'HOTAS,' I could always sacrifice my missus to the great god 'HOTAS' (Pity I'm an atheist (GASP!) ... a small price to pay I imagine and I'm (not so) sure she'd agree with me.

Cracking night tonight! Went out on the rampage in my Krait II and kicked arse regally in the low ResEx sites. Megacreds on the kills and a leapyear jump on the combat ratings. Eventually limped back to home port (Bhotega) battered and bleeding but with 2 clicks left on the shield recharge and with a price on my head in some backwater hick system or other. Cue 'Duelling Banjoes' Diddle-ing Ding-ding. This after I parked up the Orca after a very lucrative day's shifting stiffs. So I took the K2 out for a spin seeing as I'd racked up enough creds for a couple of rebuilds post mortem. Still not post and still not mortem. Sic Transit Gloria Swanson! or Gloria Gaynor ... 'I will survive!'

KP, like JV said, with your fire groups I am pretty sure you have to issue the command to change to next fire group whilst in play....I use voice attack but you can assign a button through the options menu.
look for commands " next fire group" and "previous fire group" and assign buttons on stick or keyboard input.
good luck
i am assuming of course you are going into fire group panel to change....if not I apologize for my misunderstanding

Thanks, Bazr. I will try that I was simply moving the "cursor" over and highlighting that column, thinking that would be enough. It is the "selecting", i.e. making that column work/activated - that is the issue.
I have avoided Voice Attack, but I think I will have to go for it and use it. there are too many commands for the HOTAS alone, and sneaking a peek beneath the visor and finding the keys on a keyboard in the dark is not the best arrangement.
I have another question. I had conquered the "circle of shame" by following youtube advice on having a key to cut back to 75% throttle when the counter reached 7, then being abe to pop out right at a station with "Disengage" command. Did they change something? Or does a Python need more room to slow down. Suddenly I am overshooting everything with the 75% at 7 formula.
Got my arse handed to me almost twice yesterday. I decided to be more aggressive in battle at the ol' Nav Beacon playground. Thinking my new Python could handle anything.(and in OPEN play, too!) so brave! I had bought a plasma accelerator to try it out and have not given up on it, but not sure how effective it was. I limped out of there on 26% and made it back to station barely.
Then am heading home with a load of LTD, Void Opals, and Grand, ony to get interdicted by some guy who stripped me of any power to do anything, although I was smacking the chaff button like crazy. I was down to 11% and a sitting duck and took the coward's way out. I rebooted.
BOOM! It worked. I came back not far from the station, fully repaired with all precious cargo in the hold. I would have tried to work out of it, but the windows were cracking and smoke was filling the cabin and a voice kept saying, WARNING! WARNING! EJECT!
And I have yet to find the "Eject button."
Am I bad?

no the 75 @ 7 still works. you can do it at 6 actually. Sometimes it will read 5 but im pretty sure it is a very high 5, like 5.8 and you still dont overshoot.
And yeah, combat logging can get you banned btw. Never do that if it is another player who interdicted you. NPCs are unable to report you for it.

It was an NPC thank goodness. Then. Won't do it again. NPC's are solid color right? Don't know why my Python could not withstand the Interdiction.
Okay, so let's see if I have this right: When it hits 7, go to 75% and do NOTHING else until it tells you to "Disengage" and you will never overshoot? Is that correct?

KP...don't forget there is a repair ship option in the panels somewhere.....do this when you are in a safe place because it shuts the ship down for a bit whilst the repairs are made.
think it steals from other modules to do the job.....it should fix canopy to get you home safe.
Also now we have the supercruise auto thingy they recently added which drops you out at the right time at your destination, tried it out and it works but do not use it all the time.
Also also....with the hotas there is unlimited (well not really...but a lot ) of combinations when you use a hotkey in combination with another key.
I have printed out my key combinations as there are too many to remember lol
But obviously with VR voice attack would be perfect.
Some use voice attack to program a sequence to escape an interdiction....issue a command and the ship automatically keeps boosting, flies in a spiral (for example) for evasion purposes, puts pip to shields, selects next system to high wake to, then engages fsd when charged...pretty cool huh ?
